Magna Graecia

greco-roman-touristic.jpg.jpeg
‘Magna Graecia’ £80 small £120 medium £150 large

Touristic haunts re-lived by painting in response to drawings made on site in mainland Greece and Sicily. Picture planes jutting out and suspended by a scaffold reminiscent of world heritage, often clad in such frameworks as they are partially restored.

Celluloid Folly II

‘Celluloid Folly II’2016 34x42x27cm 5-meter cord £250

Canary bird cage with 35mm film woven into the bars, stitched in place with empty coloured biro tubes threaded into spaces for doors. Yaught varnish applied to reinforce and 5 meter cable braided in cerise to compliment the blue cage. The tortoise shell like illuminated negatives cast a warm hue punctuated with the sprocket holes projected onto surrounding walls.

Hexastyle Temple D

‘Hexastyle Temple D’ 86x86cm £250

Tapestry based on drawing made on the Acropolis at Selinus in Sicily. It depicts the huge toppled drums of the Doric columns. Weft made from torn strips of my old shirts and bedding on a nylon twine warp. Colour was dictated by its tonal value resulting in a multi coloured state reminiscent of the building’s polychromed youth.
