Slides Spiralling

‘Slides Spiralling’ 2016 52x5cm £220

Blanket stitched into a montage, the individual reversal film image has been buffered into quasi ‘negative sandwich’ sorcery as practiced  in pre digital handling of photography. Each transparency slide was coaxed into a curve by threading sprocket holes recalling the darkroom fumblings of’spooling’ the latent imagery awaiting release from its gelatinous  opacity. Originally used for art history lectures, now the slides have been attached in a non sequential format and presented on a bed of light for a cacophonous viewing. The physical mechanics of the lens based image in the time of wet processes is hankered for when our clouds contained within black boxes in some remote server in the north, harbour our pictures.
